MADE ANY SMALL CHANGES???

We are now several weeks into 2007 and I had recommended that we all think about making any small changes in how we look, think and act.  Have you thought about what small changes are possible for you?  And, more importantly, have you taken steps to make some small changes?

Several of you wrote me about making some changes in the way you look, for example, getting new eyeglass frames.   Although this can seem inconsequential, it is just the opposite.    New eyeglass frames can help to inspire more positive feelings about the way you look and take care of yourself.  We may be getting older, but we don't have to advertise it!

Changing your hairstyle and makeup can be totally motivational and inspire you to take risks with other things you want to change.   Maybe it is also time to take stock of your clothes closet.   Are you still wearing clothes from several decades ago?  Well, how about considering some new additions to your wardrobe?  If you are not sure of what looks best on you, I suggest you consult a personal shopper - your local department store usually offers this service without charge.  Check it out.

Finally, why is all of this focus on your appearance important?  Well, the bottom line is that we are often judged by how we look.  People make assumptions about us like "her clothes are so dated", "his haircut makes him look so old", "did you see her shoes?", or "what is with her dry, dated makeup and lipstick color?"   Remember most of us don't aspire to be fashion models, but we do want to be perceived as taking good care of ourselves - that makes us feel and look beautiful!  For us beyond 40, we have to admit that staying current in our appearance contributes to how people view us in the workplace - we need to make small changes that have big impact.

Let me hear about what small changes you are making.  Post a comment or send me an email.  Have a great day!
